Modern Teachers

Much of our society believes teaching to be an easy job. Admittedly, some parts of the job are fun, some are stressful or tedious, and some are mentally taxing. None of teaching is easy. Any job that you give 100% to is not an easy job. Teaching is not an easy job, but unfortunately like all fields there are individuals who don’t dedicate their full effort or respect the value and character of the teaching field. The modern teacher is focused on more than standards or knowledge. Much of our time is spent encouraging positive characteristics and values.
I myself have been teaching for five years in the middle school environment. I really enjoy working with this age range. I find it challenging. I find it frustrating. I find it to be really valuable for each of the students, but this environment is incredibly challenging for most of them, especially in this modern era. Students are affronted daily with social media and pop culture. This total inundation of stimulation and information keeps these students constantly “on”. They don’t often have time for their own character to develop.
The circumstances that make each one of us unique also cause each one of them to deal with unique situations. It is each of these unique situations that cause the necessity for diversification in the way teachers, educators and administrators handle situations of learning, discipline, engagement, motivation and classroom safety.
